Meet some ot the other animals at New Beginnings that benefit from your generosity to THE SPIRIT FUND. 

Spirit was a victim of human cruelty when she was shot and left for dead in a suburb of Kankakee County. New Beginnings was called and Pam immediately rushed to Spirit's aid. After extensive treatments at the vet and therapy Spirit still was not able to recover fully and remains paralyzed.

Although she may be paralyzed she sure gets around. Pam has gotten her a cat wheel chair but Spirit prefers to do it on her own and will pull herself around the shelter visiting with the other cats.  

If it wasn't for caring people like yourself we would never be able to continue to save the "Spirits" that come to our door everyday. New Beginnings does not turn away a cat due to a physical or mental illness, this even includes FIV/FeLv cats who can live happy healthy lives.

Currently New Beginnings has over 45 special needs and senior animals that need your help. When you donate to the Spirit Fund you are helping to ensure that no animal will suffer or be denied medical treatment due to lack of funds. 

The name of this sweet little soul is Katie.  She is a petite little girl with a very big heart just full of love for everyone. Katie loves to give hugs.  Due to over breeding she was born with health issues.  She will always have to be monitored by our veterinarians. 

UPDATE: It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that Katie passed away on April 13th, 2009 while undergoing a routine procedure at the veterinary office. 

Look at the smile on this hansome guy named Dually. He was hit by a car and found on the side of the road by a good samaritan.  His rescuer called New Beginnings and Pam got him right to the vet's office.  Dually's back legs are permanently paralyzed due to his injuries.  He like Spirit has his own wheel chair and you should see him go.  It took him a bit to get used to his wheels but he quickly learned to get himself around.  It is heartwarming to see him enjoy his life.
